Genting Highlands Day 1

As December comes around, we all want to enjoy this month for the festive season and the end of a whole year, also before the start to a new one & work or school. So I would say I was really blessed to have been able to leave Singapore even if it was for 5 days just to travel somewhere else to relax and have fun.

Sanjeev, Mervyn, Haojie, Huimin, Pei Shun, Yim Lee, Jia Yu & I took a road trip by van to Genting Highlands, Malaysia with Huimin's family & their friends. Basically it was a huge group of us who went okay! Either way, I'm super thankful to Huimin's parents because they were willing to invite us & sponsor us for the accommodation of the hotel stay there.

We had to get ready super early in the morning, like 4.30am & reach Huimin's place by 5.30am. In a last minute, spontaneous decision, Haojie was invited to the trip so he and Sanjeev rushed to his house for him to stash clothes into a bag and cab back to HM's house in time for the van's departure at 6am. They actually made it & we were on our way to Malaysia in a 7 hour road trip.

My thought was, "I want to be comfortable for this super long drive, so I'm going to wear shorts and a tank top."
OOTD for road trip
Thus we departed from Singapore on our journey to Malaysia.
You know those movies you always watch & everyone's singing and laughing, having fun in the car? Screw all that ok! Everyone would rather sleep & save their energy for the arrival in Genting. All they show you in movies... are LIES!

After breakfast, we continued our 4 hour journey upwards of Malaysia & we reached the base of Genting Highlands where we stopped for lunch.
Lunch time!
The mountains with a covering of clouds
After an additional 30 minute drive up the mountain which had an AMAZING view, unfortunately I was sitting on the wrong side of the bus to get a gorgeous view of the valley beneath... -.-" we finally reached the hotel in Genting Highlands & it was.... FREEZING! OMG, it was so cold & wearing shorts was a major mistake!

our temporary room for the first day @ Resort World Genting
The view outside the hotel. There was supposed to be a huge LCD there
Once we were settled in our temporary rooms (after a super long wait due to a mix up in the reservations) we went down to the Genting Hotel side for dinner at this Thai - Chinese fusion restaurant. The food was good I must say. The fish was a surprise because I thought they'll serve like the whole fish kind, but they came with the fillet kind, HAHA!

Mango sticky rice for dessert
Along with the mango sticky rice, there was this Almond pudding which was DA SEX BOMB, seriously, that was the best almond pudding ever. Didn't manage to get a picture of it because we were all too busy, erm... eating it! Along with that we had fried durians. Yes, you might think, "ewww yuck, durian! & as if it couldn't get any worse you fry it?!" Well, it's just like goreng pisang (fried bananas) but with a smoother and softer texture inside.

After stuffing ourselves during dinner, we headed down to First World to walk around and see what's there to do at 8pm. Eventually we decided to pay money to scare the wits out of ourselves in the Haunted House.
The lift of doom to the Haunted House upstairs
Since there were 8 of us; Jia Yu, Yim Lee, Pei Shun & Haojie went together as a group first, leaving Mervyn, Huimin, Sanjeev & I to go after them. Honestly, the haunted house was really scary but they're pretty smart to give you a mission of shooting targets to make sure you move through the maze slowly. The first part of the maze was pretty okay, just shooting at the targets and all that but the second half was when the employees started to jump out of corners and scare you. Somehow, my group was really entertaining.
Mervyn went first, dragging a terrified Huimin on his arm, followed by me and Sanjeev protecting me from the back. After the first half of the maze, Mervyn started to act like a hero shouting at every nook and cranny "I KNOW YOU'RE IN THERE! COME OUT!" then turning to us saying "You must anticipate them, then you won't get scared" either way, he still got shocked when they popped out. That was epic.
Then we came to a corner & the guys decided to just leave us in a dead end. Huimin didn't want to open her eyes at all & just stood there hugging me, crying. The boys came back & we continued the walk. Coming to the end of the maze, things started to heat up because suddenly Sanjeev & I were in front making Huimin & Mervyn be at the back. As we were in the final leg of the maze, one "ghost" came from the back & started chasing Mervyn & Huimin, making them run for their lives. Mervyn knocked into Sanjeev, flew back, banged into Huimin making her trip over her gun & slammed her head against the wall making her fall on the floor crying uncontrollably!
Even the "ghost" got scared, he took off his mask & tried to console Huimin.

After the haunted house, we went to the Ripley's Believe It or Not exhibition.
The chair of the world's tallest's man
Once out of the exhibition, we all walked around First World for a while before the boys decided to head to the casinos & the girls decided to party at one of the pub/clubs in the hotel.
I accompanied Sanjeev to the casino & I can't take photos in there but that place is HUMONGOUS! It connects to 5 plus over casino areas & there were all kinds of games. It was quite interesting actually.

After that we met up with the girls at the pub.
At Modestos
The place closes at 3am which is a bummer but we were all super tired after the long trip & a whole night of activities that we didn't complain much about going back to the room.
The plan for the next day was to wake up at 9.30am to go to the theme park.

And with that I'll leave you with the cliffhanger to Day 2's story.
